How To Use Instagram For Your Personal Brand

Whenever most of us think of self-promotion; we cringe!

I used to be that person and I would pass on any chance to promote myself – I mean, why do I need to ‘force’ people to notice me or what I sell/the service I offer *side eyes*

Little did I know that I was actually shortchanging myself – who cares about what people think? If I don’t promote myself, who will?

So, back to the crux of the matter; using Instagram for your personal brand! Instagram is much more than posting pictures and waiting for the likes to flow in. If used well, Instagram can be a proficient tool in building a personal brand – I am talking from experience here guysss!

Have your Mission and Vision clearly stated. When you decide to become intentional about your personal brand online, you need to clearly write out your mission and vision. Who are you? What do you stand for? What value do you bring? Why should people follow you?
Your bio should immediately tell me who you are and what value you bring to the table. Your bio must communicate the right things in a clear and attractive manner.

Remember that authenticity is important and easily recognized. Be authentic and your target audience would notice and vibe with you. There are people I have never met in real life, but whenever I come across your posts on social media; I vibe with them because they are authentic.

Pick a theme and stick with it. What colours do you want to be associated with your brand? Colours have meanings, so choose wisely and carefully. Use those colours in your graphics and if you can, get yourself a logo. If getting a graphic designer is too expensive, you can simply do it yourself. There are tons of free tools that you can use in creating your own logo.

Also, you can edit your photos using the same format in order to make your Instagram feed cohesive.

In addition, you sr photos should be geotagged.Doing this will make your posts easily discoverable by people within your location who might constitute your target audience.

Content is key and this is where you get the opportunity to shine through your posts. Take out time to craft content that communicates your brand and your expertise.
