The Love Story – Gift Oghenekohwodo Ogwa

Oh my Gosh!!!

I can’t contain myself. This is the day that I have been waiting for all my life, well, most of it. I know that weddings are usually a girl’s obsession but since I met Amanda, I’ve wanted her to be my wife.

Mandy has a way of captivating people. Her smile, her aura…, there’s just something special about her. The scene of the first time we met is deeply rooted in my memory. I remember that I was late for an appointment, a very important one.  I was representing my company at a lunch with some of the biggest investors in the city. There was quite thick traffic so I decided to take a detour, some left turns and then a couple of rights and then I was lost.

I got down from my car and decided to walk. A couple of blocks down and then I swallowed my pride and asked the nearest person for directions. Long story short, I found my way. With my sweat soaked shirt and a briefcase that was heavier than the world, I rushed into the conference room only to be surprised that there was just one person there, just one!

“Are you okay?”

“What took you so long?”

“Do you need anything?”

Slowly my eyes re-opened only to find this beautiful, chocolate skinned, caramel topping lady with the softest palms and purest eyes ever looking at me with concern and patting my head, I had slipped.

Oh Mandy! I have loved you since that moment. They say that guys don’t have feelings or that they shouldn’t express them. They say, ‘big boys don’t cry’ but for today, can I be a small boy and let this river gush out of me? The feelings that have welled up inside of me have root from the tree of love.

Every time I see you, my dear, I have an extra reason to be thankful for life. My love, you are the explicit definition of beauty. Your eyes shine like the stars, your smile curves all the way to your ears. Your heart is exceptionally beautiful. I don’t want to go another day without having you as mine, you are my perfect miracle, my sweetheart.

Today, Amanda Itohan Osagie, I promise to love you forever, hold you in tough times, laugh through the exciting times and smile at your success. I promise to love you and our future babies, provide for you so we lack nothing. I promise to.

“David! David! David wake up! You’ll be late for work. You know how that your Amanda boss girl is..”
