Candid Advice On How To Build Your Brand By Sisi Yemmie And Woli Arole

This video piqued my interest because I am interested in topics regarding building a reputable brand. Secondly, I think Sisi Yemmie and Woli Arole have both built reputable brands via social media.

For those who may not be able to watch the video, I have summarized the tips in the points below:

Identify your niche

This is very important because it helps you in fine tuning your unique selling point and targeting the right audience for your service or product. This was very important for me because I had several things I was/am good at but I had to narrow it down.

A simple question I have often heard people ask that has helped them determine their niche is – what would I love to do without being paid? Would you still be a blogger, if you know that you would not earn any money from vlogging?

Be Observant

I like that Woli Arole related this to the scripture Job 32:8. According to Woli Arole, the Spirit of God gives him inspiration from what others may not necessarily view as an inspiration. Need inspiration? pray to God and also be observant.

Go with the trend

Trends are what you ride on – Woli Arole. This is key for brands that are focused on using social media as a tool to reach their audience. For example, a lot of brands used the opportunity of Banky W and Adesua’s wedding hashtag #baad2017 to reach out to their prospective audience/customers.

Collaborate

Are you a blogger? Vlogger? Collaborate with others in your niche, that way you can reach their audience and they can also reach yours. It is a mutually beneficial relationship. I recently saw that the business world is moving beyond networking to collaboration but of course, it begins with networking. There is can be no collaboration without first networking.

Consistency/Persistence

I also liked how Woli Arole defined consistency vs persistence. According to Woli, consistency is continuing in your niche – showing up when you need to, not occasionally. While persistence is stubborn consistency. You need to consciously shut your ears to critics and stubbornly persist in your niche. By being persistent you can reach your desired audience. According to Woli – our greatest competition is capturing the ever busy/occupied minds of people.

Follow Principles

Consistency is about following principles and standards. While Sisi Yemmi and Woli Arole acknowledge God as the source and agree that they may not be able to explain how they have succeeded in capturing the minds of people, however, they agree that they have followed principles such as being consistent and persistent, collaboration, and every tip they shared in this video.

Evolve

If you are not growing you are dead – Sisi Yemmie. Look for new ways of doing things. New ways of reaching your audience. To evolve, you must also understand trends. Do not be afraid to try new things.

Find Your Platform

According to Woli, your brand may need to be on Facebook. Do Facebook live videos. Find a platform that suits your brand and in his words – Start small, Grow Fast, and Think Big. Social media has made it very easy for you to advertise your brand to prospective customers at little or no cost.  Leverage on these platforms. In 2018, you do not have an excuse. Start that vlog, write that book, and start that business!
